Affiliate marketing can be one of the easiest ways to make money online – it means that you do not need to keep your own products, accept payments or handle many of the other functions associated with running your own business. What is Affiliate Marketing?Affiliate marketing is an online business model whereby you market a particular company and when someone you refer purchases something from their website you receive a commission. There are also other types of affiliate programs whereby the person doesn’t necessarily need to make a purchase but you may even be paid simply for people clicking on the link on your website or by taking some other action on the affiliate website you refer them to. Why Affiliate Marketing is Beneficial to the Affiliate MarketerAffiliate marketing, for the affiliate marketer, is one of the easiest businesses to run online as your main responsibility lies in marketing the product. Once the person clicks through from your website to the affiliate link the rest is your affiliate partner’s responsibility. All the research, development, payment processing, etc. is done by your partner and you get payment based on your efforts. Why Affiliate Marketing is Beneficial to the Manufacturing CompanyAffiliate marketing is not only beneficial to the marketer but also the manufacturer or primary selling company because it means they get a large sales force that need only be paid when a particular action they choose (such as a sale) is made. This means you are not paying for people who are inactive and not doing any work. What to Look for in an Affiliate ProgramWhat should the potential affiliate marketer look for when choosing an affiliate program? The first thing you need to consider is the market and competition – how big is the market in comparison to the competition – don’t enter a saturated market. An important point on most affiliate’s lists is commission – how much commission is paid, for what actions, and how often? Digitally downloadable products are generally cheaper but with a higher commission rate; whereas, physical products may be more expensive with a lower commission rate. Generally commissions should be paid at least monthly. Is this a product you can trust? If you can’t trust the product then you will find it difficult to sell to others. Common Affiliate Marketing MistakesMany affiliate marketers are doing well online but there are others that never earn any money – what is the difference between those that succeeed and those that don’t?Successful affiliate marketers have thoroughly researched the marketer; unsuccessful affiliate marketers work on a hit-and-miss basis. Successful affiliate marketers have one or two programs they focus on until they succeed; unsuccessful affiliate marketers jump from program to program. Successful affiliate marketers have their own website; unsuccessful affiliate marketers send traffic immediately to their affiliate link. Affiliate marketing is a business model on the internet whereby the marketer will send traffic to another website they are partnering with and then get paid for each click, action or sale. This is beneficial to both the marketer as well as the manufacturer.
